Russian users can use the Tor network to reach Twitter.

Twitter has launched a version of its service that can circumvent Russia's attempts to block and censor the flow of information about its Ukraine invasion. Twitter's privacy-protected "onion" site can be accessed by downloading the Tor browser, which opens access to sites on the "dark web" that are not indexed by standard web search engines.

Onion sites have a .onion suffix rather than .com. Twitter's onion site is designed specifically for Tor and prevents the site from being spoofed by bad actors.

Twitter verified that its onion site has been in development for some time, since before the Russian invasion.
